President’s Christmas Message

Lloyd P. Crockett
Dear Fellow Serrans:
As I write this message on the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, I am reminded of the words of our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, who wrote,
“I invoke the maternal protection of Our Lady of Guadalupe so that she may protect and inspire those who govern in their difficult task as promoters of the common good, and renew the bonds of Christian fellowship for the good of all the people.”
These are most appropriate words that we should ponder as we journey through this Holy Season of Advent waiting for the Miracle of Miracles, the birth of our Redeemer, Jesus Christ, God’s only son.
As Serrans and as Catholics, we have much to be thankful for. The Dialogue Session in Omaha discussing the future structure of Serra was a milestone for our beloved organization, bringing Serrans together under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and producing an Agreement that every participant approved. Through the prayers and support of Cardinal Rigali, Archbishop Curtiss and Bishop Cupich, we were able to resolve the major issues that confronted Serra and produce a united plan that will now be submitted to the Serra International Board for its consideration at the March 2008 meeting.
May God bless us as we go forward in this Holy Season and into the New Year, showering us with His grace as we work in His Vineyard! May He bless our efforts to promote vocations and bless all of those in our Church who have answered His call. As we have learned through our own life experiences, God will not be outdone in generosity.
With my wife, Elizabeth, we extend to you and your families every good wish for His peace and joy during this Holy Season and for the New Year. May His holy name be praised! May He bless the work of Serra and all those dedicated to this cause!
Mary, Mother of Vocations, pray for us!
Sincerely in Serra,
Lloyd P. Crockett
